Inside the Powell InMotion studio
Why Powell

A Studio Built Around You.

InMotion Wellness Studio Powell is an assisted stretching studio built around one thing and one thing only: bringing a higher quality of life to the people of Powell. This corner of Knox County has become a hub for recovery and active living. The studios, clinics, and wellness pros around us are all pointed at the same goal: helping people stay moving and get back to what they love. We're proud to be part of that.

Stretching has always been part of the conversation. After a long day on your feet. After surgery. Before the morning walk. It's just never been the main thing. InMotion Powell changed that. With every session spending at least 30 minutes of focused, intentional stretching on your own body, a trained Motion Specialist will pinpoint what's restricted in your body, why it's there, and how to release it. Whether you're recovering from a procedure, working through years of stiffness, or just trying to feel better doing the things you've always done, our team meets you where you are. Most clients walk out feeling lighter and looser, almost like a new body.

What I love about running this studio is the people. Every client walks in carrying something different, and every session ends with someone moving easier than when they came in. Some days it's an athlete getting back to training. Some days it's someone who just wanted to feel like themselves again. Either way, I get to put a smile on their face. That's the part of this work that never gets old. - AP, General Manager

Common Questions

Before You Book.

The Basics

What is assisted stretching?
Assisted stretching is a one-on-one practice where a certified Motion Specialist guides your body through targeted stretches you can't easily do on your own. You lie on a comfortable stretch table while your specialist applies safe, controlled pressure to lengthen muscles, open joints, and release tension. At InMotion Powell, every session is fully guided. You don't have to know what you're doing, and you don't have to be flexible to start.
Do I need to be flexible to come to InMotion?
No. The most common reason people start at InMotion is because they aren't flexible. They're tired of feeling stiff, tight, or in pain. Your first session begins with a mobility assessment, and your Motion Specialist tailors every stretch to where your body is today. Flexibility isn't a prerequisite. It's the result.
How is InMotion different from a massage?
Massage works passively on soft tissue. You lie still while a therapist works on you. Assisted stretching is active. Your Motion Specialist moves your body through specific stretches that target muscle length, joint mobility, and movement patterns. Massage feels great in the moment. Assisted stretching changes how you move long-term. They're complementary, not the same.
How is InMotion different from yoga or physical therapy?
Yoga is a group practice where you move yourself through poses. Physical therapy is medical treatment focused on rehabilitating a specific injury. InMotion is private, one-on-one assisted stretching. Your Motion Specialist does the work of positioning and lengthening, and sessions are built around your everyday mobility, not a class flow or a clinical diagnosis.

Your First Session

What happens at my first session?
Your first visit is a free 60-minute demo. You'll meet your Motion Specialist, fill out a quick intake, complete a mobility assessment that maps your current flexibility and movement patterns, and experience a guided stretch session on the table. By the end you'll understand where your body holds tension, what's possible with regular sessions, and which membership option fits your goals.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, athletic clothing that allows your body to move freely. Leggings, joggers, athletic shorts, and a fitted top all work well. Avoid jeans, belts, or anything restrictive. You'll keep your shoes off on the table. No need to change at the studio. Come dressed and ready.
How long are sessions?
Standard sessions are either 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Your Motion Specialist will recommend the right length based on your mobility assessment, your goals, and how often you plan to come in. Most clients use a combination. 60-minute sessions for full-body work and 30-minute sessions for targeted maintenance.

Pricing & Membership

How much does InMotion cost?
Pricing depends on session length and how often you come in. Our membership options are designed to make consistent sessions affordable. Most clients save significantly compared to single-session pricing. The easiest way to see current pricing is to claim your free 60-minute demo. We'll walk you through every option in person with no pressure to commit. You can also call us at (865) 362-5017.
Is the first session really free?
Yes. Your first 60-minute demo session is completely free. No card on file, no obligation, no auto-enrollment in anything. We do ask that you book in advance so we can pair you with the right Motion Specialist and reserve a table.
Do you offer packages or memberships?
Yes. We offer monthly membership options at different session frequencies so you can build assisted stretching into your routine at a sustainable pace. Your Motion Specialist will help you choose the right option after your demo based on what your body actually needs, not a generic upsell.

Who It's For

Who is InMotion best for?
Anyone who wants to move better and feel better. Our clients in Powell include people managing back, hip, and shoulder tension from desk work; athletes optimizing recovery; older adults preserving mobility; people rehabbing from injury or surgery (often alongside their PT); pregnant and postpartum clients with cleared activity from their provider; and people who simply feel stiff and don't know why.
Is there an age limit?
No upper limit. Many of our most consistent clients are in their 60s, 70s, and 80s, and assisted stretching is one of the most accessible ways to maintain mobility as you age. For minors, we ask that a parent or guardian be present and complete intake paperwork.
I have an injury or chronic condition. Can I still come?
In most cases, yes. Assisted stretching can be especially helpful for chronic tension, post-injury stiffness, and conditions like sciatica, frozen shoulder, or plantar fasciitis. If you have an active injury, recent surgery, or a serious medical condition, please get clearance from your doctor or PT first and let your Motion Specialist know during intake.
